Love and Kindness and meditation exercises were two favorite exercises this semester.  I feel they were both beneficial to me because they make my mind focus on the instructions. I listen to the instructions and let my mind and body go into relaxation mode.  I have done these on a weekly basis and have also incorporated them into my workout routine.  I have seen improvement on my running and I’m not sure if this is because of this exercise, although it is possible. I am able to release my feelings of frustration and stress from my day and unwind to the meditation practices and guidance.
Over time, I believe these practices will increase my relaxation and provide me with a sense of inner calm.  I plan to incorporate other exercises by research and hope that these will become part of my routine.
I have learned a lot about myself during this course and am thankful for the knowledge I have gained from my inner self.

  1. Hi Kari!
I also liked the meditation exercises but I also liked the visualization practices. I think that is really great that you are improving on your run, I don't doubt that it is because of these exercises. It would make sense if they are clearing your mind better and allowing you to run with a clearer head so you can focus more on your breathing while running. I think you should keep that up to see if you improve any more and then you would really know if that was the reason. Do you think you will continue these types of exercises after the term is over?

    Thanks!

  2. Caitlin,
I do think I will continue these exercises although I would like to find new and different ones. I do truly believe my runs are better because I'm letting go of my daily stress before I begin. I have increased about 40 seconds a mile over the past month!! I'm trying to get to down around 9 minute miles and my goal is to get into the 8's at some point, but we will see! Thanks for your comment!! Have a great week!
